Palau Fugit’s architects, artists and artisans

Frederic Amat, Concept artist
Font de Garotes SculptureThe renowned Catalan artist is the creator of the Font de Garotes, located in El Pati. This sculpture, almost three meters high and sculpted with seven ceramic pieces, embodies the artist’s first impressions of El Pati. The piece was glazed and crafted in the Fundació Llorenç Artigas workshops, located in Gallifa. Then, the jewel of the hotel was born: the Font de Garotes.

Dani Isern, Isern Associats
Architectural renovationThis independent, distinguished architecture and design studio has been in charge of renovating the old baroque palace and converting it into the current Palau Fugit. The challenge was to maintain the original soul of the building, establishing a dialogue between history and modernity, city and refuge, nature and stone, public and private spaces. The final work is something you can only experience in person.

Oliver Franz Schmidt, Natali Canas del Pozo y Lucas Echeveste Lacy, El Equipo Creativo
Interior designEquipo Creativo is an award-winning interior design studio specialized in the hotel sector. Playing with elements of the palace’s original architecture, they used contemporary techniques to give a breath of fresh air to the space. As a result, they created an elegant and cozy interior that evokes a fresh, casual ambiance.

Ivon Reijers, Olively
Natural bath productsOlively is a Girona-based company that crafts natural products made with olive oil from the Alt Empordà region. Olively values high quality ingredients, ethical and sustainable practices, and providing benefits to the skin. Palau Fugit reflects these values, which is why you will find its products throughout the hotel.

Judith Bernàcer, My Mother’s Garden
Floral artFlowers remind us that every moment is beautiful, but at the same time, ephemeral. This specialist in floral art selects different flowers to bring freshness, color and scent to each room of the palace. For Judith and the Palau Fugit team, it is very important that the flowers grow close to the hotel, combine perfectly with the ceramic pieces they’ve been placed in, and enhance the space where they’re located.

Núria Gimbernat, Artist
Ceramic piecesBorn in Girona, Núria Gimbernat has been inspired by this city throughout her career. This has also been the case when designing all the ceramic pieces of Palau Fugit. Working each piece by hand, she thought of every detail so that her creations transmit a sense of purity and complement with the other elements of the space.

Montse Nart, Shizen’na
Palau Fugit AromaMontse Nart is an aromatologist and perfumer for the Girona-based company, Shizen’na. She has an exquisite taste and impressive experience regarding the perfume creation and spatial aromatization. In collaboration with the Palau Fugit team, she created the scent of the hotel, a natural and balanced perfume with the scent of Girona. It has a woody and floral scent that represents the roots of the palace.

Sonia Estévez, Illustrator
IllustrationsBorn in l’Empordà, Sonia Estévez drew the illustrations that can be found throughout the palace. In these pieces, she reflects on the transience of time and the need to live in the ‘here and now’. Through her work, she shows that although time flies, Palau Fugit invites you to stop for a moment and enjoy it.

Joana Santamans
MuralsThis painter, illustrator and art director observes plants and trees like a professional naturalist. In fact, she has worked for major projects in London, New York and San Francisco, but currently lives between Barcelona and l’Empordà. At Palau Fugit, she painted the walls of the hotel with murals of trees, plants and flowers emblematic of Girona.
